About Sara

Wow…My First Blog!!! You guys are probably wondering where in the world did she come up with that name, “OneTribeGourmet” Would you believe, from a SONG!!! Yes…The Black Eyed Peas song, “One Tribe.”  This song was an extremely inspirational to me and a Ray of Hope, that I have always felt about this world. I like how the songs lyrics conveys a strong  message of Unity…. We are One People, One Tribe = One United! Peace!

My wish is to share my passion for Food & Travel with you via this blog! I have always felt that food is the most common denominator that crosses all boundaries and brings people together. The ritual of “Breaking Bread” in every culture is a special bonding experience.  Personally I love to experience different cultures through there cuisines! My goal here is to encourage an individual who is interested in learning different global cuisine yet is a bit intimidated by it. I am here to help you, all you have to do is open your heart!!!

I believe that peace, love & harmony is the way to go.  One way to achieve tolerance is  to get to know each other through exploring each others cultures and cuisines. Growing up in the US, the most wonderful country of mine. I was lucky to have  friends from various Ethnic & Diverse backgrounds. I have learned a wealth of knowledge from my friends, which I am forever grateful!

I collect cookbooks, I am known to sit for hours and read cookbooks like a Novel. Some of my favorite cookbook Authors are Marcella Hazan, Guiliano Hazan, Lidia Bastianich, Naomi Duguid, James Oseland, Jeffrey Alford, Greg Malouf.  I do watch Food Network, my favorite celebrity chefs are Mario Batali, Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentis, Ina Garten, Jamie Oliver & Ming Tsai. Anthony Bourdain is awesome too, love his twisted humor and his rebellious, vicarious way of eating  through the world…I wish I had his job! My favorite restaurant is Mario Batali’s, Babbo in nyc! Love the Pasta tasting menu….try it & you will love LOVE love it!

I also  have been very fortunate enough to travel vastly around the world. But there’s one place I long to be and it is my most favorite place on earth.   It’s a tiny Island on the coast of Naples, Italy called Capri. I also love the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan, London, Paris, Istanbul, Santorini, Athens, Lisbon.

I am planning traveled  throughout Spain & Morocco and Turkey this past summer of 2010!  I fell in love with Spain & Morocco, especially Andalusian cities of  Seville, Cordoba & Granada. Also I was intrigued by the mystical & ancient Moroccan city of  Fes. It was my second time visiting  the ever so enchanting Istanbul. I fell in love with Istanbul all over again, this time we also traveled to the western cities of Izmir & the sun drenched beaches of Kusadasi. From Kusadasi we took a 2 hour ferry ride to Samos, Greece. We had a lovely time!

I absolutely love to travel and planning a trip to India & China in the near future!

When “normal” people are checking out the tourist sites, yours truly is checking out the supermarkets and gourmet shops! Whenever I visit a city anywhere in North America, I seek out & love walking through Chinatowns, little Italy’s, little Vietnam, little India, little Japan, little Mexico….umm you get the idea!

Best Regards,

Sara Hafiz
